Local Community

Marchwood Power is committed to maintaining good relations with the local community through open, two-way communication. We carried out extensive public consultations during the permitting phase, and we continue to engage and interact with the local community as the project progresses, whilst also working closely with the Environmental Agency and New Forest District Council to ensure that the development complies with all appropriate legislation.

A local liaison group, representative of councillors from the Parish, District and County Councils as well as other interested parties, has been set up that meets with the Marchwood project team on a regular basis to review the plant’s progress.

Schools Liaison

As part of Marchwood Power"s commitment to forging links with the local community and with a particular emphasis given to energy, the environment and education, a School Liaison Officer was appointed in October 2007.

Marchwood Power is supporting the Solar4Schools initiative and in December 2007 met with local schools to introduce the scheme that is environmentally friendly, an educational resource, and provides help in meeting electricity bills. Several schools have expressed interest and this will be an ongoing project.

We are keen to help local schools and colleges in areas that have synergies with our business and we are open to receiving ideas on how we could provide additional support in the future.

The School Liaison Officer can be contacted through Marchwood Power.
